Why is gold's ounce heavier than a normal ounce? Here's the twist. Gold doesn't use the ounce you know. It uses the troy ounce. That's thirty-one point one grams. A regular ounce? Just twenty-eight point three five. So a gold ounce is almost three grams heavier. Today, 24 karat is five hundred and four dirhams a gram. Ten grams is five thousand and forty dirhams, and an ounce is just over three times that. Quick tip: at the souk, always compare per gram. Follow for tomorrow's rate.
