Can You Really Wear Your Dubai Gold Into India?
Wearing gold doesn't make it duty-free in India. Only people who've lived abroad over a year get an allowance: men 20 grams up to ₹50,000, women 40 grams up to ₹1,00,000. Bars and coins are always dutiable, so declare at the red channel and keep your invoice.

Think you can wear any gold into India? Here's the catch. The duty-free allowance only applies if you've lived abroad for more than a year. Short trip? No allowance at all. If you qualify, men get twenty grams, up to fifty thousand rupees in value. Women get forty grams, up to one lakh rupees. Bars and coins? Always dutiable. So declare at the red channel and keep your invoice. Today 22 karat is about four sixty-seven dirhams a gram. Save this before your next flight home.
